Prices for newly harvested young potatoes are declining in Ukraine this week. According to EastFruit analysts, Ukrainian producers are selling this vegetable at a price of 16-24 UAH per kilogram.
Experts explain that the main reason for the decline in prices is the improvement in weather conditions and the resumption of potato harvesting in most regions of the country, which has led to an increase in supply on the market.
Currently, Ukrainian producers are offering newly harvested potatoes for 16-24 UAH per kilogram, which is on average 20% cheaper than last week.
"The main reason for the decline in potato prices is the so-called seasonal factor, when the supply of this product on the market increases almost every day. At the same time, the quality of the products offered is often low, which also puts pressure on prices in this segment," analysts explain.
They point out that at the beginning of July this year, the price of potatoes in Ukraine was on average 38% lower than now.
Analysts do not rule out that the downward trend in prices in this segment may continue in the future with an increase in the supply of potatoes on the market.
It is expected that consumers will take advantage of this price reduction and will be more active in buying new potatoes. This situation may be beneficial for farms that are able to sell their products at these lower prices.
Despite the price reduction, it is important to note that the quality of potatoes may vary. Consumers are advised to carefully inspect the vegetables before buying and choose quality products.
Overall, the decline in new potato prices creates favorable conditions for consumers to enjoy this healthy vegetable at affordable prices. The continuation of the downward trend in prices depends on the dynamics of supply in the market, so it is worth keeping an eye on the situation.
