The Ukrainian company Veres has stopped mushroom and compost production at its farm in Kaniv, Cherkasy region. According to the specialized portal UDMIS, the company has decided to mothball the equipment since July this year.

Recently, Veres has been looking for a tenant for the farm to keep production going, but the search has been unsuccessful.

Veres's mushroom production consisted of 36 mushroom growing chambers with a growing area of 700 square meters each. This was the largest farm in Ukraine. The company's monthly production reached 450 tons of mushrooms and 3,500 tons of compost. The farm had been operating successfully since 2004.

The reason for the closure of the farm was the losses that had accumulated during its operation. The farm employed over 200 people.

Most of the mushroom harvest was used for the Veres canning shop's own needs, where pickled mushrooms were produced. However, the need to stop production at the farm led to the closure of this shop as well.

The closure of the largest mushroom farm in Ukraine is disappointing news for the industry and the local community, which has lost employment and development opportunities in this area. For Veres, the closure of the farm means that it needs to review its strategies and possible directions of development.
