The agreement on simplified roaming between Ukrainian and European mobile operators has been extended, allowing Ukrainians to stay connected regardless of borders. The European Commission announced this on July 10, emphasizing the positive effect of this agreement, which was signed in April 2022 between 22 European and 7 Ukrainian operators.

The Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) noted the success of this agreement, which made it possible to make calls across borders affordable. Operators from the European Economic Area (EEA) countries that have joined the agreement offer significantly lower tariffs compared to operators that did not participate in the agreement.

The European Commission encourages all operators to join the agreement, and information about the signatories is available online. At the same time, the European Commission is preparing for Ukraine's integration into the EU roaming area. The European Commission approved a proposal to include the issue of free roaming in the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement on February 14.

Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision that will create the legal basis for Ukraine's further accession to the EU internal market regime in the telecommunications sector. Following the approval of the updates by the EU-Ukraine Association Committee on Trade, Ukraine will have 12 months to implement the list of legislative provisions to be able to join the European roaming space RLAH. After that, based on the EU's assessment, a final decision will be made on the timing of Ukraine's accession.
