Poland proposes to ban imports of Ukrainian frozen raspberries and strawberries to the EU. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland, Minister Robert Telus will appeal to European Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis to include these fruit and berry crops in the preventive measures.

According to the minister, imports of frozen strawberries and raspberries from Ukraine increased significantly in 2022 and early 2023, which creates significant difficulties for Polish producers and disrupts the market. Other coalition countries do not have such problems.

Poland plans to send a letter to the European Commission, which will be signed by Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Buda. Telus emphasized that intensive dialog between the coalition countries that have suffered the most from market disruptions is a priority for Poland.

Also on July 19, the ministers of agriculture of Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova will meet in Warsaw. Mykola Solsky, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, has also been invited to the talks. The main topic of discussion will be the situation on agricultural markets after Russia's aggression against Ukraine and actions to ensure fair competition for farmers from EU member states and candidate countries.
