According to the results of a study by the Retailers Association of Ukraine (RAU) in 2022, retail chains paid more than 90 billion hryvnias in taxes, with 40% of this amount falling on representatives of food retail.
The research data was compiled on the basis of official tax returns provided by companies in the field of trade for the year 2022. According to the results, the total amount of paid taxes exceeded 90 billion hryvnias.
It is noted that from the nine main branches of Ukrainian retail trade, including entertainment, about 40% of this amount, amounting to over 35 billion hryvnias, was paid by food retail operators.
It is emphasized that before the beginning of the war, retail was among the five most profitable branches of the Ukrainian economy. Despite the fact that domestic trade is currently only recovering, its dynamics do not yet fully correspond to pre-war profit indicators. However, this industry remains one of the main sources of budget revenues for the state.
Payment of taxes by trade networks has a significant impact on the budget of Ukraine and the economic stability of the country. The sphere of retail trade is an important chain in the economic development of the country, and its success affects the standard of living of the population and the overall stability of the economy. The continuation of the recovery of this industry can contribute to the further growth of budget revenues and ensure a more stable economic situation in the country.
