The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities has decided to distribute revenues generated from managing electricity restrictions between the transmission system operators of Ukraine and Romania provided by Ukrenergo.

This became known from the official statement of the regulator's press service.

According to the terms of the draft Agreement between the transmission system operators of the two countries, the income (excluding VAT) from the management of electricity restrictions on the border between Ukraine and Romania is distributed equally between the National Power Generation Company Ukrenergo and C.N.T.E.E. Transelectrica S.A., and both operators receive 50% of the income.

Representatives of the National Commission explained that this decision will help regulate export-import operations with electricity through cross-border flows from Ukraine to Romania and vice versa.

In addition, this step will contribute to the stabilization of the energy system, as it creates conditions for importing electricity from Romania during periods of shortage hours of the day and exporting to Romania during periods of surplus electricity.

This initiative is of great importance for ensuring the stability of the energy system of both countries and helps to maintain an efficient exchange of electricity in the region. The resumption of cooperation with Romania in the electricity sector stimulates the development of high-tech projects and strengthens Ukraine's energy security, providing the country with additional opportunities to meet its electricity needs.
