On August 1, new rules for depositing cash through self-service payment terminals came into force in Ukraine. According to the regulations adopted by the National Bank in late June, users are now required to enter their phone numbers for verification when replenishing their accounts.

These new requirements apply to cash deposits of UAH 1 or more to accounts via self-service terminals. The replenishment procedure will consist of the payer entering their phone number, receiving an identification code on their smartphone, and entering it at the payment terminal.

However, identification requirements will not apply to payments:

utility bills (rent, utilities, landline telephony, television, electricity, gas, internet, security)
tickets for railroad transportation (including suburban routes);
travel in urban and suburban transport (including payment for electronic tickets for travel in such transport);
route passenger transportation;
replenishment of travel and transport cards for urban and suburban transport;
taxes, fines, administrative services, fees and other payments to the budget.
The amendments to the rules are provided for by the National Bank of Ukraine's Resolutions No. 90 "On Amendments to Certain Regulatory Acts of the National Bank of Ukraine" and No. 89 "On Amendments to the Instruction on the Procedure for Organizing Cash Operations by Banks and Conducting Payment Transactions by Payment Service Providers in Ukraine".
