The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is proposing to increase the minimum allowance for unemployed people. Currently, only a small number of Ukrainians receive this support, but the new draft resolution may change the situation. According to the information, the minimum benefit may increase from UAH 1,000 to UAH 1,500 during martial law. The proposal applies to people who have no insurance record or have worked for less than 7 months in the last year.

The draft resolution was posted for public discussion on the website of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine (FTU) and provides for an increase in the minimum benefit for the unemployed at the expense of funds provided for in the budget of the Fund for Compulsory State Social Insurance of Ukraine for Unemployment.

The projected average monthly number of registered unemployed who will receive the minimum benefit will be approximately 38,700. The cost of raising the minimum unemployment benefit by the end of the year is estimated at around UAH 111 million.

The increase in the minimum allowance may be an important step in improving the financial situation of those who have experienced labor difficulties and are unemployed. Increasing the allowance can stimulate social protection and provide a certain level of financial support for this category of citizens.

However, it should be taken into account that a large number of unemployed people may increase the financial burden on the budget and require efficient allocation of resources to ensure support for all those in need. It is important to accompany the increase in benefits with effective measures to stimulate employment and provide vocational training for the unemployed, which will help them return to the labor market and secure a stable income.

The adoption of the relevant resolution could be an important step in ensuring social justice and supporting citizens who have found themselves in a difficult economic situation due to job loss. An increase in the minimum wage could stimulate social stability and improve the living standards of unemployed Ukrainians.
