Ukrainian farmers harvested 16.6 million tons of new crop grain

The current harvest in Ukraine is bringing impressive results, as farmers have already harvested 16.6 million tons of new crop grain. Of this amount, 75.5% is wheat, which makes a significant contribution to the total harvest. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported the information on grain yield and composition on Friday.

According to the Ministry, farmers in all regions of Ukraine managed to harvest 16,574 thousand tons of grain from the new harvest. As of the beginning of August, early grains and pulses were harvested on an area of 3,782 thousand hectares, reaching a yield of 44.0 c/ha.

Wheat was among the leaders among the harvested crops, with 2,698 thou hectares threshed, harvesting 12 mln 513 thou tons and yielding 46.4 c/ha. Barley also showed positive results, with 939 thou hectares harvested and 3 mln 755 thou tons harvested at a yield of 40 c/ha. Peas were harvested on 125.3 thou hectares with a yield of 24.5 c/ha and a total harvest of 306.4 thou tons.

Mykolaiv region is the leader in grain harvesting, having threshed 82% of the area, which makes a significant contribution to the total harvest. Odesa region showed the best results in grain harvesting, with over 2 million tons. Pea harvesting has already been completed in 9 regions, and Dnipropetrovska oblast is starting to harvest buckwheat.

The harvest is still ongoing, and winter rape is being harvested. It was threshed on an area of 1,182.3 thousand hectares, yielding 3,319.8 thousand tons of seeds at 28.1 c/ha.

The total amount of grain harvested was impressive, indicating a potentially successful harvest this season. Continued harvesting and further positive harvesting dynamics give us hope for stable supplies and satisfaction of market needs.
