The demand for electricity in Ukraine will grow significantly over the next 10 years, doubling the demand before the start of the Great War. This forecast is based on the report of the Ministry of Energy and the results of a meeting of the sectoral working group on energy, which was held as part of the Ukraine Facility program.

According to the forecasts, the main factors that will contribute to growth will be the processes of reconstruction after the war, export-oriented industries and an increase in the number of household electricity consumers.

The Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Economy, together with KPMG, are working to implement the Ukraine Facility program and develop sectoral development strategies.

In particular, the Ministry of Energy is focusing on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 by increasing the role of green energy, developing nuclear power, and implementing energy efficiency measures. The implementation of European integration of energy markets is a key factor in ensuring the stability, adequacy and resilience of the country's energy system.

At the meeting of the sectoral group, experts made proposals for a detailed analysis of potential electricity markets, a realistic assessment of demand in certain regions, and stimulating the localization of energy equipment production in Ukraine by attracting additional investments.

Overall, the electricity demand forecast emphasizes the need for careful planning and realistic development of Ukraine's energy sector to ensure energy sustainability and further growth of the country.
