The Russian occupiers at Zaporizhzhia NPP have begun the process of transferring the fourth power unit from a "hot shutdown" to a "cold shutdown" after detecting a water leak in one of the four steam generators.

This was reported by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.

In order to determine the exact cause of the water leak, carry out maintenance and repair of the damaged steam generator, the power unit is put into a "cold shutdown" mode.

Further steps also include putting Unit 6 on hot shutdown for the next three days to continue steam production at the site, according to Grossi.

It is worth noting that Unit 6 has been in cold shutdown since April 21 as part of the safety system inspection and maintenance. The IAEA experts will closely monitor the process of transferring the sixth power unit to the hot shutdown mode, as well as the fourth power unit to the cold shutdown mode.
