Annual food and beverage expenses are an important aspect of any family's budget. By analyzing data from 105 countries, Picodi.com analysts found out how much food costs vary in different regions of the world.

The results of the study showed that the share of food spending ranges from a few percent to more than half of all consumer spending, depending on the country. Among the countries where spending on food and non-alcoholic beverages for consumption at home is less than 1/10 of total expenditures are the United States (6.7%), Singapore (8.4%), the United Kingdom (8.7%), Ireland (9.2%) and Switzerland (9.9%).

Ukraine ranks 93rd among 105 countries in this ranking, where 41.6% of all expenditures on consumer goods and services are spent on food and non-alcoholic beverages. Similar results were recorded in Moldova (41.1%), Ethiopia (41.3%) and Cambodia (42.7%).

Nigeria (59%), Myanmar (56.6%), and Kenya (56.1%) had the highest levels of spending on food among all countries.

As for Europe, the highest food expenditures were recorded in Switzerland ($359 per month), Norway ($341 per month) and Denmark ($311 per month). This can be explained by the high general prices in these countries.

According to the study, the average food expenditure for Ukrainians is $108 per month. The lowest food expenditures were recorded in Belarus ($98 per month) and Moldova ($97 per month).

It is important to keep in mind that effective budget management and rational shopping can significantly reduce food costs, even in countries where food prices can be high.
