The U.S. Department of State has granted approval for the possible sale of Japan of Joint Air-to-Surface Missiles of Extended Range (JASSM-ER) and related equipment worth about $104 million. This information came from the Office of Military Cooperation of the US Department of Defense.

The Government of Japan has requested the United States to purchase fifty AGM-158B/B-2 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles with an extended range (JASSM-ER). This package also includes JASSM Anti-jam Global Positioning System (JAGR) receivers, training missiles and missile containers, as well as support equipment, spare parts, consumables, accessories and repair and maintenance support. The package also includes integration and test support, training and equipping of personnel, as well as supply and support of classified and unclassified software, as well as related publications and technical documentation.

The total estimated value of this agreement is approximately $104 million.

This agreement aims to improve Japan's defense capabilities, enabling it to meet current and future threats. This is achieved through the use of modern long-range strike systems that can be installed on fighters, including the F-15J.

As noted, Japan has no problems with the adoption of these products and services by its armed forces. The main contractor in this agreement is the American company Lockheed Martin. It is important to note that this agreement will not have a negative impact on the defense capabilities of the United States.
