Ukraine's public debt growth: details and analysis

As of the end of July 2023, Ukraine's public and publicly guaranteed debt reached UAH 4,860.59 billion, or $132.92 billion in dollar terms. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

According to the report, during July 2023, the total amount of state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine increased by UAH 146.23 billion in hryvnia equivalent and by $4 billion in dollar equivalent.

As of July 31, Ukraine's external debt amounted to UAH 3,319.19 billion (or $90.77 billion), which is 68.29% of the total public and publicly guaranteed debt. The domestic debt amounted to UAH 1,541.41 billion (or $42.15 billion), which is 31.71% of the total debt.

Ukraine's public debt consists of external debt of UAH 3,050.34 billion (or $83.41 billion) and domestic debt of UAH 1,470.75 billion (or $40.22 billion). The total public debt amounted to UAH 4,521.09 billion (or $123.63 billion).

Ukraine's state-guaranteed debt at the end of July amounted to UAH 339.50 billion (or $9.28 billion), including external debt of UAH 268.85 billion (or $7.35 billion) and domestic debt of UAH 70.65 billion (or $1.93 billion).

These figures indicate a significant amount of public debt in Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Finance.
