The beginning of the school year in Ukraine: 340 thousand first-graders expected

This year, about 340,000 first-graders are expected to enter educational institutions in Ukraine. According to Andriy Vitrenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, this information was provided during a national telethon.

It is worth noting that the exact number of first-graders will be known only after October 1, when local education departments will fully register the contingent. Last year, 325,000 students were enrolled in first grade.

According to Mr. Vitrenko, this year's education will be organized in three forms: remote, mixed and full-time. Distance learning will be used in regions where the security situation does not allow classes to be held in schools or where the equipment of schools for blended learning does not meet the requirements. In-person training will be available in institutions where it is possible given the security situation and equipment with shelters in accordance with SES standards.

It was also determined that students who will attend schools will study in two shifts in order to socialize first-graders.

Vitrenko emphasized that these changes in education should contribute to the socialization of children and their constant interaction in society. The effectiveness of these measures will be assessed by the results of the school year and regular studies on the quality of education.

It is worth remembering that it is difficult to make simple decisions in times of war. Given the limited number of shelters, the authorities will implement various forms of education, including the possibility of changing the schedule depending on the situation and the decisions of teaching staff.
