Restrictions on traveling abroad for women in the military register: MP tells about new rules

Starting October 1, 2023, women with medical or pharmaceutical education must be registered for military service and will receive the status of persons liable for military service, which will limit their ability to travel abroad. This was stated by a member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, the President's representative in the Rada, Fedir Venyslavskyi.

The MP reminded that last year the Rada amended Article 1 of the Law on Mobilization Training and Mobilization, which stipulates that women with medical or pharmaceutical education should be registered for compulsory military service.

In accordance with these amendments, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued a decree on the procedure for military registration, and the Ministry of Defense issued an order on military registration of women. According to this order, starting from October 1, women with medical or pharmaceutical education must register for military service.

"If they are registered, they will receive the status of persons liable for military service. And those liable for military service can travel abroad in the same manner as those liable for military service. That is, if they have separate documents that give them the right to leave temporarily, then yes, they will be able to leave. If not, then they, like men, will have restrictions on the right to leave," Venyslavsky emphasized.

The MP also added that other women who have military-related specialties can voluntarily register from the same date.

"There are currently no plans to expand the list of specialties for women who must register," he said.
