Ukraine's large agricultural sector continues sowing winter crops, including rapeseed and grains. As of the second half of September, winter rapeseed has been sown on an area of 1 million hectares, as well as grain on an area of 585 thousand hectares. In particular, wheat was sown on 514 thousand hectares, barley on 47 thousand hectares and rye on 24 thousand hectares.
Last week, farmers sowed winter crops on 336 thousand hectares.
Among the regions of Ukraine, Sumy region is the leader in terms of winter grain sowing, with 84 thou hectares planted, which is 81% of the forecasted area. As for winter rapeseed, the largest area was recorded in Dnipropetrovs'k region, where 103.6 thousand hectares have been sown, which is 82.5% of the forecast.
These data show the activity of Ukrainian farmers who continue to sow winter crops to ensure food security and increase the harvest. Sowing winter rape and grain is an important step in preparing for winter and the next agricultural season. These crops have a decisive impact on the production of oil and bakery products, which are an important component of Ukraine's food chain.
