The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has demanded that Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) be immediately returned to full control of Ukraine, and this resolution was approved at its General Conference. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

This important document, initiated by Canada, Finland and Costa Rica, was supported by 69 IAEA member states.

The adopted resolution calls on the Russian Federation to take the following steps:

Immediate withdrawal of personnel: The resolution calls for the immediate withdrawal of all military and other unauthorized personnel from the ZNPP site. This is a step towards ensuring safety and avoiding further risk to the power plant.

Return of control to Ukraine: The document clearly defines the need to return ZNPP to the full control of the competent authorities of Ukraine in accordance with the existing license issued by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU). This will help to normalize the operation of the power plant and ensure its safety.

Ensuring safety: The resolution also calls for ensuring the safe and secure operation of ZNPP. Preventing possible accidents and preserving the plant's infrastructure are important aspects of this requirement.

This resolution is an important step in the work of the international community to resolve the situation at ZNPP and restore control over it to Ukraine. It also emphasizes the importance of the international rule of law and compliance with international obligations related to nuclear safety.
