Over the next two days, veterinary, sanitary and phytosanitary control for all agricultural cargoes sent to the port of Klaipeda in Lithuania will be transferred from the Ukrainian-Polish border. This was agreed during an online meeting of the Ministers of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania.

This step is intended to speed up transit through Poland and facilitate the growth of transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products to the Baltic States and the EU.

Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solsky proposed to move phytosanitary control from the Ukrainian-Polish border to a Lithuanian port. The ministers of agriculture of Poland and Lithuania, Robert Telus and Kęstutis Navickas, supported this initiative and considered it a positive step.

Earlier, Ukraine and Lithuania agreed to ease border crossing procedures for transit cargo in order to increase the volume of Ukrainian agricultural products transported to the Baltic States and the European Union.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda believes that the development of the Baltic Sea port corridors will make it possible to export about 10 million tons of Ukrainian grain annually.
