Prices for vegetables, fruits and dairy products in Ukraine are expected to rise in the near future. This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Oleksandr Haidu. He noted that autumn price increases for vegetables and fruits are traditional, as they need to be stored in specialized storage facilities during cold weather, which leads to an increase in production costs and a decrease in supply. Such price increases can amount to 5-10% per month. However, prices for dairy products may rise by 3-5%, which is a less significant increase. Also, in winter, we should expect an increase in egg prices.

Gaidu noted that chicken eggs are the leaders of this year's price increase, as most eggs in Ukraine are produced in small farms. A decrease in supply from households leads to higher prices. It is likely that egg prices could reach last year's levels, when they were around UAH 75 per dozen, by the New Year holidays.

Despite the expected price increase, Gaidu noted that most products in the fall of 2023 will be cheaper than last year. In particular, buckwheat has more than halved in price this year thanks to a record harvest. The record buckwheat harvest will help to reduce prices for cereals, Gaidu summarized.
