Throughout the full-scale war, Ukraine and Romania have demonstrated an impressive ability to develop logistics in the field of freight transportation. Currently, more than 60% of Ukrainian grain is exported through Romanian territory.
This was reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
Additionally, Shmyhal emphasized that Romania has already reached the third place in terms of bilateral trade with Ukraine.
According to the Prime Minister, Ukraine is ready to take all necessary measures to improve the situation with agricultural exports. These measures include everything from military risk insurance to the creation of special transportation corridors.
Currently, Kyiv and Bucharest are actively working on a plan to control grain exports from Ukraine. Following the end of the restrictions imposed by the European Commission, Romania did not extend the ban on imports of Ukrainian products from September 15.
It is worth noting that port operators in Romania are actively expanding grain transshipment capacities in the port of Constanta, as Ukraine increases grain exports through Romanian ports. They have become the main transit hubs for Kyiv after Russia withdrew from the grain deal.
Earlier, the Romanian government announced its intention to double the monthly transit capacity of Ukrainian grain through the port of Constanta to four million metric tons. This is a very significant step, given that initially the volumes were practically zero before the Russian war. Ukraine continues to strengthen its position as a major grain exporter, and Romania plays an important role in providing logistical capabilities for this process.
