White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said that the United States has almost spent all the funds allocated for military assistance to Ukraine in the war against Russia. Only 4% or 1.1 billion dollars of the total allocated funds remain.
"We have spent approximately 96% of the funds we have provided for military assistance. The Defense Department's reserves are down to about $1.1 billion," Kirby said.
Regarding further funding, Kirby emphasized that the government is pressing Congress to immediately approve $11.8 billion in direct budget support for Ukraine.
"We have been clear about the importance of providing this funding to Ukraine. It's very important for us to support the Ukrainian military who are fighting in this conflict," Kirby emphasized, expressing confidence that future funding for Ukraine will receive support from both parties in Congress.
He also emphasized the need to provide assistance as soon as possible so that the Ukrainian military can effectively use the remaining time, especially before the weather conditions worsen, which could complicate the situation.
Kirby emphasized that the United States believes in Ukraine's ability to defend its territory and resolve the difficult situations the country is facing.
