Ukraine has taken a step towards revolutionizing its electricity supply by simplifying the procedure for installing cogeneration gas piston plants that will provide uninterrupted power supply to key facilities. The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced the step.

"The government has simplified the procedure for the placement of cogeneration gas piston units needed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to schools, hospitals and critical infrastructure facilities. Now they can be installed without going through a number of licensing procedures," said Shmyhal.

It is noted that these installations will not only create a power reserve for emergency power outages, but will also contribute to the decentralization of generation.

According to Shmyhal, thanks to cooperation with USAID, Ukraine will receive 69 small and medium-sized power plants by the end of 2023.

"This winter we will have a positive result from their operation," the Prime Minister emphasized.

An important step in the development of the energy sector was also the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to simplify procedures for importing energy equipment, including generators and transformers, to Ukraine.

According to The New York Times, this season Ukrainian thermal power plants will provide one third of the total electricity produced before the war.
