The European Union continues to support Ukraine by preparing the last tranche of macro-financial assistance for 2023. The decision to do so was approved by the European Commission, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who pointed out the EU's significant contribution to Ukraine.
The last tranche, which amounts to one and a half billion euros, is expected to be sent to Ukraine in the coming days. However, the transfer of these funds will be made only after Ukraine has successfully fulfilled certain conditions aimed at ensuring budget stability in difficult times of war.
Ursula von der Leyen noted that this financial contribution will help Ukraine to hold on until the EU approves a new program worth 50 billion euros. She emphasized that the €1.5 billion tranche aims to create the necessary financial bridge for the country, helping it secure funding in early 2024.
The President of the European Commission also emphasized the importance of this tranche, which, although small in size, has been identified as important for supporting Ukraine in an emergency situation. This decision of the European Union is noted as a manifestation of solidarity and readiness to provide practical assistance to Ukraine in times of difficult challenges. In general, this initiative contributes to strengthening the partnership between the EU and Ukraine in the context of geopolitical turbulence.
