Production expansion: Ukrgasvydobuvannya launches two new gas wells

Joint Stock Company Ukrgasvydobuvannya, a part of Naftogaz Group, has successfully commissioned two high-rate gas wells at the same field, which produce more than 200 thousand cubic meters of natural gas daily.

This was reported by the press service of Naftogaz, which notes that both wells located at the same field have become a source of a significant increase in gas production for the country.

The first well, which was drilled in 1975, remained idle due to technical difficulties. After experts analyzed the well's condition and prospects for recovery, it was decided to drill a sidetrack and fracture the formation.

"This approach proved to be successful, which provided an additional 100 thousand cubic meters of natural gas for the country," said Oleh Tolmachev, Acting CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya.

The second appraisal and production well also produces more than 100 thousand cubic meters of gas due to the successful selection of the drilling site and four stages of hydraulic fracturing.

The field, which has been actively drilled since 2021, is expected to achieve annual production of more than 1 bcm of gas this year for the first time in more than 10 years.

Recently, Ukrgasvydobuvannya discovered a new gas field and also discovered a promising deposit in the Mesozoic gas-bearing complex of the Carpathians in a field that was previously considered depleted.
