The Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan has announced a significant expansion of the list of goods prohibited for export to Russia and Belarus. The decision is aimed at preventing the use of these goods for military purposes and marks support for steps aimed at condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, the new list of these goods includes equipment for the production of semiconductors, specific chemicals and medicines. This was an important step in expressing support for the sanctions measures already imposed by the European Union, the United States, and other countries.

Taiwan, although it has minimal trade relations with Russia, joined the international community in protesting the invasion of Ukraine. In particular, it was noted that the new sanctions are aimed at preventing the use of the mentioned goods in military operations.

According to Reuters, the restrictions imposed by Taiwan are in line with similar measures already implemented in the EU and the US. These measures cover a number of parts that are widely used for commercial purposes, but can also be used to manufacture military equipment.

The situation in Ukraine is resonating strongly in Taiwan, as many islanders see parallels between the events in Ukraine and the possible consequences if China decides to use force to conquer Taiwan, which it considers its territory.
