NBU announces launch of instant payments in Ukraine by the end of 2025

The National Bank of Ukraine has set a timeline for the introduction of an instant payment system that will play a key role in the future transformation of the payment sector. NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyi said that this initiative is expected to be implemented by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

The NBU is currently actively working on the implementation of an instant payment system in Ukraine. This initiative is strategic for the further transformation of the country's financial market. The main financial regulator is focused on solving the issues of regulating instant payments and their technological implementation.

Andriy Pyshnyi expressed plans to complete the implementation of instant payments based on the NBU's Electronic Payment System (EPS) by the end of the first quarter of 2025. This step is an important milestone in the strategy of further development of the Ukrainian financial market.

The NBU Governor also emphasized that the introduction of instant payments is a key component of the financial market transformation aimed at improving access and convenience for users. In addition, he noted that Visa's partners recognize the NBU's success in implementing payment innovations, including the seamless transition to 24/7 operation of the new generation of EPS.
