Decline in the new bus market: what caused this trend?

In January 2024, the number of new buses entering the Ukrainian fleet was halved compared to the previous year. According to Ukravtoprom, only 119 new buses, including minibuses, were added to the fleet in the first month of this year. This is 50% less than in January last year.

Among the leaders of the new bus market in January 2024, the following brands gained an advantage: ATAMAN - 35 units, CITROEN - 33 units, ETALON - 15 units, TEMSA - 13 units, and ZAZ - 11 units.

Last year, according to Ukravtoprom, Ukrainians purchased almost 61,000 new passenger cars worth more than UAH 105.5 billion. It is noted that legal entities spent more than UAH 34.3 billion on new cars, while individuals spent about UAH 71.2 billion. Ukrainians consider TOYOTA to be the most popular car brand, with 16.4 billion hryvnias spent on its purchase.

The reasons for the decrease in the number of new buses on the Ukrainian market can be varied. This may be due to economic factors, including rising prices for vehicles and their operation. It is also possible that the demand for new buses is decreasing due to changes in public transportation or due to changing approaches to mobility.

The situation on the labor market and in the business sector is also important, as it may affect the ability of businesses and individuals to purchase new buses. Factors such as economic instability or changes in legislation may also affect consumer preferences and decisions to purchase new buses.

The government and stakeholders can study this situation and take measures to stimulate the market for new buses, which will contribute to the modernization of the transport infrastructure and improve public transport in Ukraine.
