French defense companies plan to expand production in Ukraine

Ukraine will be enriched by another area of cooperation with France, as three French defense companies have expressed their intention to establish a partnership with Ukrainian enterprises in the production of military equipment in its territory. This was stated by the Minister of the French Armed Forces Sebastian Lecornu, emphasizing the importance of this step towards the development of military-technical cooperation between the countries, Ukrinform reports.

"We want to produce weapons on Ukrainian soil and maintain them. We have proposed to build French or European factories on Ukrainian soil, and this has become the subject of a European consensus," Lecornu said, emphasizing the importance of the initiative.

According to the minister, three French defense companies plan to establish partnerships with Ukrainian enterprises, mainly in the areas of drones and ground equipment, thus expanding the range of opportunities for joint production and development.

"We intend to produce spare parts in Ukraine, possibly even ammunition. The idea is to have the first production units up and running this summer," Lecorneu added, emphasizing that this will help strengthen the defense capabilities and military-technical potential of both countries.
