Ukrenergo's losses from recent Russian attacks: what is known

26 мар, 09:30

Recent attacks by Russian troops on Ukraine's energy system have resulted in heavy losses for the National Energy Control Company Ukrenergo. Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the company's chairman of the board, said that preliminary estimates of losses from the latest attacks range from €90 to €100 million.

Kudrytskyi noted that the power company was prepared for the attacks by taking preparatory measures, stockpiling equipment and materials, and training staff. Gravity engineering fortifications, which were jointly developed with the regional military administrations and the State Agency for Reconstruction, played an important role in mitigating the consequences.

Currently, 10 mobile repair teams and hundreds of specialists are working in the regions that have suffered the most damage to repair the damage and restore power. However, some regions, such as Kharkiv, Dnipro and Odesa, still face power supply restrictions.

Kudrytskyi noted that the power supply is being restored in stages and urged citizens to use electricity sparingly to avoid overloading the system. Meanwhile, repair teams continue their work to restore power supply as soon as possible.

As a reminder, the latest attack by Russian troops on Ukraine's energy system was the largest in recent times. The damage caused by this attack, which included a missile attack on the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant, is estimated to be large, and it also led to an environmental crisis due to the release of oil products into the Dnipro River.

All of these facts indicate the serious consequences of Russia's aggressive actions on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which need to be quickly restored and protected.
