In 2023, Ukrainian farms of all levels grew about 8.3 million tons of vegetables, which is 10% more than the previous year (7.5 million tons). This information came from the State Statistics Service and was reported to the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.
In 2023, Ukrainian farmers gathered the largest crop of tomatoes - 1.68 million tons (a 33.9% increase compared to 2022). In addition, the production of carrots increased by 12.8% and amounted to 844.4 thousand tons in 2023.
Significant growth was observed in the production of Beijing cabbage, the amount of which increased by 125% to 6.2 thousand tons compared to the previous year. A noticeable increase was also noted in the production of sweet corn - by 53.6%, up to 74.7 thousand tons.
In addition, an increase in production was recorded in such types of vegetables as white cabbage (by 3.3%), table beets (by 2.2%), cucumbers (by 5.9%), eggplants (by 7.7%), and pumpkins (by 2.3%).
Opposite trends were noted in the production of onions, which increased by 9.8% to 889 thousand tons, and garlic, which decreased by 1.4%, to 186.4 thousand tons. Zucchini production almost remained at the level of 2022 and amounted to 550 thousand tons.
In 2023, Ukrainian farms harvested 21.3 million tons of potatoes, which is 2% more than in the previous year.
As for watermelons, their harvest amounted to 215.7 thousand tons (+5.5%), while melons were harvested by 13.2% less - 58.9 thousand tons.
Mushroom production decreased in 2023: porcini mushrooms - by 4%, to 11.6 thousand tons, porcini mushrooms - by 46.1%, to 70 tons.
