The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has developed an ambitious strategy for the development of electronic communications for the period until 2030, which, according to estimates, will bring the country an economic effect of $67.6 billion. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.

Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that electronic communications are critically important for the comfortable life of citizens, the functioning of a digital state, and even warfare. Thanks to cooperation with partners, a strategy with a clear action plan was formed, which covers various areas of development in this area.

The development strategy defines the main directions of telecommunications development both now and after the war. Special attention is paid to the availability of stable communication and the development of electronic communications as the foundation of the economy. The implementation of this strategy will contribute to the recovery and development of the sphere both during the war and in the post-war period.

The key directions in the focus of the strategy are the improvement of state policy in the field of telecommunications, the improvement of mobile communication and Internet services, as well as the integration of Ukraine into the single roaming zone with the EU. Investments planned by electronic communications operators as part of this strategy will amount to $6 billion by 2030, and their effect is estimated at $2.5 billion over seven years.

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the quality of electronic communications services in Ukraine by 2030 will exceed the level of similar services in European countries. Ukraine intends to become one of the world leaders in the pace of implementation of innovations and new technologies.

By 2030, 98% of Ukraine's population will have broadband Internet access, and the average DL data transfer speed will reach at least 90 Mbit/s. Mobile communication will cover 95% of the population. Thanks to the support of European roaming, Ukraine will enter the top twenty countries in terms of average speed of mobile communication.

As of 2023, the majority of Ukrainian users of fixed Internet access services (52.6%) had a connection speed of 30-100 Mbit/s, 35.5% used a speed of 100-1000 Mbit/s, and 3% of users had a speed over 1 Gbit/s. Such progress provides confidence in further development and achievement of the ambitious goals of the strategy until 2030.
