Ukraine sent the first batch of peas to Mauritania as part of the Grain from Ukraine program

Ukraine, together with the World Food Program (WFP), has made the first delivery of 423 tons of split peas to Mauritania as part of the humanitarian initiative “Grain from Ukraine”. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported this.

This supply supports the activities of the WFP in the region, while ensuring the support of school food programs and helping the population during the lean season. Some of the Ukrainian peas will be used in school camps throughout Mauritania, as well as in camps for displaced people. Another part is to ensure the work of large health centers combined with other products.

According to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in the coming months it is planned to send even more ships with Ukrainian food to Mauritania and other countries that require assistance. This initiative aims to support global food security and will help the most affluent countries with the supply of grains, grains and other grub products from Ukraine.

The "Grain from Ukraine" program was launched in the spring of 2022 to ensure food security on a global scale and to provide assistance to countries that are most in need of support. As part of this program, Ukraine supplies not only grain, but also other food products, which supports the development of cooperation with international organizations and agro-processors.

Michela Carucci, an expert on food systems and the sustainability of the World Food Program (WFP) in Ukraine, said that trade with Ukrainian agro-processors is growing significantly. During the full-scale war, humanitarian products from Ukrainian producers were worth over a billion dollars in vartis equivalent.

The organization intends to build partnerships with the private and government sectors to develop the supply of processed products and promote the efficiency of Lanzug's creation of the given product.
