Lithuania provides Ukraine with transformers and equipment worth more than 4 million euros

The Lithuanian company Litgrid announced the transfer of autotransformers and other equipment to Ukraine to restore and support the operation of the power system, which was damaged by Russian shelling. The total cost of this assistance exceeds 4 million euros.

This was reported by the operator of the electricity transmission system of Lithuania, the Lithuanian broadcaster LRT notes. The company emphasized that the Ukrainian and Lithuanian power systems use the same voltage, which differs from the voltage used in many other European countries. Therefore, the equipment supplied by Litgrid is fully suitable for the needs of the Ukrainian power system.

General Director of Litgrid Rokas Masiulis said that in preparation for synchronization with the continental European network and modernization of power transmission lines and transformer substations in Lithuania, various substations, line equipment and materials are being dismantled. They are no longer used on Litgrid facilities, but remain in good condition and may be useful for Ukraine.

"We continue to modernize our power system, preparing for full synchronization with continental Europe. In the process, we are dismantling some substations and other equipment that is no longer used in Lithuania, but may be useful in Ukraine," Masyulis said.

This aid is part of a wider program of support to Ukraine from Lithuania and other European countries. Ukraine faces serious challenges in ensuring a stable electricity supply due to damage to the energy infrastructure as a result of the war. Help from partners is critical for a quick recovery.

Such initiatives testify to the solidarity of Lithuania with Ukraine and the desire to help in the most difficult moments. In addition to the equipment, the Lithuanian side also provides technical support and consultations for the effective implementation and use of the transferred resources.
