Expansion of mobile communications in Ukraine: new achievements and challenges

Ukraine continues to develop its telecommunications infrastructure even in the midst of a military conflict, which leads to constant destruction of the infrastructure. Over the past six months, the country has installed a record number of base stations for mobile communication, amounting to more than 2,295 towers in more than 300 settlements. These data were released by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The Ministry emphasizes that the main goal is to ensure stable access to mobile communication for the population even in the zone of military operations. Together with key players in the telecommunications market, active work is being carried out to improve and restore the network throughout Ukraine, especially in the territories affected by shelling.

For example, one of the recently introduced base stations in the Kyiv region provides access to high-quality communication and the Internet for more than 2,400 residents in a radius of more than 10 kilometers. This greatly facilitates the life of the local population, providing reliable communication in difficult conditions.

Also, in May of this year, the strategy for the development of electronic communications until 2030 was presented together with partners. One of the key goals is to provide mobile communication and broadband access to the Internet for 98% of the population of Ukraine by 2030. At the moment, this indicator is 91%, which indicates significant progress in the development of the country's telecommunications infrastructure.

According to representatives of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, such initiatives are an important step towards improving the quality of life of citizens and ensuring their convenient access to modern technologies. Despite the challenges posed by the military conflict, Ukraine continues to move forward in the digital sphere, strengthening its infrastructure for the benefit of the population.
