In Kharkiv, work has begun on the installation of a mini CHP plant, which will be an important step in strengthening the city's energy security. Four cogeneration gas piston units with a total capacity of 6 MW have already been installed on the territory of one of the local energy facilities. These installations will be able to supply heat to the residents of Kharkiv even in the event of a lack of electricity.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during his visit to the city. He noted that negotiations are currently underway with international partners regarding the installation of additional gas turbine units that will further strengthen Kharkiv's energy system.
Shmyhal also called on other Ukrainian cities to follow Kharkiv's example and implement alternative energy sources. According to him, this will enable uninterrupted supply of electricity to critical infrastructure facilities, which is especially important in the current conditions.
"We will continue to support the regions in their efforts to prepare for the heating season," the prime minister emphasized. He also reminded that in June, Kharkiv region received an additional 2.5 billion hryvnias for preparing for the winter period, which is part of the government's overall strategy to support energy sustainability of the regions.
The installation of a mini-CHP in Kharkiv is an important step on the way to strengthening the energy independence of the city. It also demonstrates the commitment of local authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply of heat and electricity for residents, even in the face of potential crises.
This project is part of a larger initiative to modernize Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which includes the introduction of the latest technologies and the expansion of the use of alternative energy sources. The government will continue to work on ensuring the energy security of the country, in particular, through similar projects in various regions.
