In Ukraine, active work is underway to shorten the repair times of power units of nuclear power plants in order to ensure stable operation of the power system in the autumn-winter period. Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko announced his intention to reduce the duration of repair works as much as possible without harming nuclear and radiation safety.

According to Galushchenko, the nuclear power plant repair campaign was planned in such a way that all nuclear power plants in the government-controlled territory could function at full capacity during the autumn-winter period. This should ensure a stable power supply despite difficult conditions, including constant shelling and abnormal weather events.

"Given the current situation, we are trying to shorten the repair period as much as possible in order to quickly reload the fuel and resume the operation of the power units where it is safe," the minister said. He emphasized that the main priority remains the safety of nuclear and radiation processes at the NPP.

Galushchenko also explained that the return to operation of even one additional power unit can significantly affect the power system. Most units have a capacity of 1 GW, while peak consumption hours require up to 3 GW. Thus, each restarted unit plays an important role in ensuring energy stability.

In the face of constant challenges such as shelling and extreme weather, power engineers work to ensure that repairs are completed on time without risking nuclear safety. This is critical for maintaining the reliability of electricity supply during the winter period, when electricity consumption traditionally increases.

The issue of ensuring energy security in conditions of war and constant attacks on the country's energy infrastructure remains relevant. Repair work at the NPP is an important part of the strategy for maintaining the stable functioning of the energy system of Ukraine.
