In the period from January to June 2024, the car fleet of Ukraine was replenished with 36.4 thousand cars with diesel engines, which turned out to be 2% less compared to last year. Such data was made public by the organization "Ukravtoprom".

Of this number, 8.1 thousand cars were new, which is an increase of 34%, while 28.3 thousand are used cars imported from abroad, which is 9% less compared to the same period last year. Such indicators indicate a change in the preferences of Ukrainian consumers in favor of new cars.

In the new passenger car market, the share of diesel models increased to 25% in the first half of 2024, compared to 22% in the same period of 2023. This shows the growing demand for new diesel cars among Ukrainians.

Among imported used cars, the share of diesel cars was also 25%, which is 10 percentage points less than last year. This decrease in the share of used diesel cars underlines the change in market trends in favor of new cars.

The top 5 models of new diesel passenger cars in the first half of 2024 include:
1. Renault Duster - 2564 units;
2. Volkswagen Touareg - 496 units;
3. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado - 475 units;
4. BMW X3 - 393 units;
5. Mitsubishi L200 - 351 units.

These models demonstrate the highest demand among Ukrainian consumers looking for new diesel cars. It is noted that Renault Duster occupies a leading position, confirming its popularity due to the combination of reliability and affordable price.

In general, the market of new cars in Ukraine continues to develop, despite general economic challenges. Consumers increasingly prefer new models, which may be due to the desire to obtain more modern and environmentally friendly vehicles.

At the same time, the trend towards a decrease in the share of used cars on the market indicates a gradual improvement in the economic situation and an increase in consumer confidence in new cars. This, in turn, contributes to the general renewal of the country's car fleet and increased road safety.
