The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Food Security Strategy until 2027: ambitious plans to double the export of agricultural products

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a new Food Security Strategy covering the period until 2027. This document, which was officially approved at a government meeting, aims to ensure the stability of the agricultural sector and food independence of the country. This was reported by Taras Melnychuk, the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada.

One of the key goals of the strategy is to double the volume of export of agricultural products. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized that in order to achieve this indicator, it is planned to implement a number of initiatives aimed at developing agricultural production and ensuring the food market. This includes modernization of production facilities and expansion of sales markets.

The second important task is to ensure the availability of food for all social groups. The government intends to take measures to stabilize food prices and improve access to them. The third emphasis of the strategy is focused on strengthening food security through the formation of the state reserve, restoration of commodity chains, demining of agricultural land and adaptation to climate change.

Implementation of the strategy will be carried out in two stages. The first stage will last from 2024 to 2026 and will be aimed at supporting agricultural producers, in particular organic products. At this stage, the government will focus on stimulating production and ensuring the stability of the agro-industrial complex.

The second stage, planned for 2027, will focus on the restoration of the food industry at different levels — from local united territorial communities to the state level. This will increase the efficiency of the industry and ensure its sustainable development.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine noted that the implementation of the new strategy will allow creating a powerful and reliable food security system capable of responding effectively to any challenges and threats.
