German automaker BMW has announced a recall of 1.5 million vehicles worldwide due to alleged problems with the Integrated Braking System (IBS). The decision also includes a ban on the delivery of vehicles that have not yet been handed over to customers, DW reports.

According to information, problems have arisen in the integrated braking system, which may affect its effectiveness. It is estimated that warranty costs related to the recall could reach several hundred million euros in the third quarter of this year.

In addition, BMW plans to suspend the supply of 320,000 vehicles that have not yet been delivered to customers. These measures involve taking all necessary measures to eliminate the problem with the braking system before handing over the cars to consumers.

Parts supplier Continental, which makes braking systems for BMW, said the problem could be related to electronic components. However, Continental representatives emphasized that there were no signs of reduction in braking performance below legal standards.

BMW admitted that the recall would have a negative financial impact and affect the company's sales in the second half of the year. The manufacturer is already preparing for possible losses as a result of this incident.

In addition, it was revealed in August that BMW plans to recall 720,796 vehicles in the US due to the risk of short circuits, underscoring the scale of the problem facing the company.
