The Polish export and credit agency KUKE took an important step in the development of economic ties, by insuring the production complex of a Polish company in Ukraine for the first time. The value of the insured object exceeds 45 million dollars, which emphasizes the growing interest in the Ukrainian market.

As reported by the Ministry of Economy, this agreement was the result of cooperation between KUKE and the investment guarantee agency of the World Bank Group MIGA. Cooperation was formalized after the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 held in Berlin with the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy.

Yulia Svyridenko, head of the Ministry of Economy, emphasized the importance of this agreement for potential investors. She emphasized that investments in the Ukrainian economy are relevant today. "We have both investor support tools and an extensive infrastructure for insurance against military risks," she said.

The minister also spoke about plans to create a comprehensive national system of insurance against military risks. This initiative, according to her, will make it possible to obtain affordable insurance not only for the private sector, but also for the population, which is an important step for stabilizing the economy.

According to reports, the political risk insurance provided by MIGA and reinsured by KUKE covers possible losses, in particular, related to war risks. This gives investors additional guarantees and confidence in their investments in Ukraine.

Katarzyna Kowalska, Deputy Director General of KUKE, noted that this landmark operation is the first case of insurance of Polish investments in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war. She also emphasized that for KUKE this is the first reinsurance operation related to foreign investments in Ukraine concluded with a multilateral financial institution. This testifies to the long-term plans of Polish investors in the Ukrainian economy, despite the challenges that the country is facing.
