Rising prices for Ukrainian wheat and corn: the latest trends

At the end of last week, the wheat market continued the downward trend, despite the increase in prices for Ukrainian products. This decrease occurred against the background of expectations of high grain stocks on the US market, as well as active competition from cheap grain from the Russian Federation. In particular, the December futures for wheat on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (SWOT) decreased by 1.6 dollars and amounted to 213.1 dollars per ton. On the EURONEXT exchange in Paris, the quotation decreased by 0.6 dollars, reaching 246.7 dollars per ton.

According to information from ProAgro Group and Barva Invest, a slight strengthening of prices was observed on the Ukrainian market, which was supported by the needs of exporters. Grain with a protein content of 11.5% was sold at a price of $200-$207 per tonne to DAP-Danube ports, while prices ranged from $197-202 per tonne to DAP-deepwater ports.

At the same time, corn quotes showed positive dynamics, receiving support from concerns about the impact of weather conditions on the crop in South America. In Chicago, the price of December corn futures rose by $1.9, reaching $164.6 per ton. On the Paris exchange, the November contract rose by $0.3 to $231.4 per ton.

The Ukrainian corn market also saw an increase in prices, which was caused by an imbalance between demand and supply on the spot. In Danube ports, the price of corn was $190-196 per ton DAP, while in deep sea ports the price ranged from $187 to $194 per ton DAP.

These trends indicate that, despite the general difficulties, Ukrainian farmers continue to actively work on foreign markets. The increase in corn prices indicates the interest of international buyers, as well as the growing demand for Ukrainian products in the context of global economic changes.

In the future, it is important to monitor the development of the situation on world grain markets, as changes in weather conditions, as well as fluctuations in stocks in the USA, can significantly affect the Ukrainian agricultural sector. Considering these factors, farmers have the opportunity to adapt their strategies to optimize sales and improve results in the following seasons.
