The state of sowing of winter crops in Ukraine: 3.8 million hectares have already been sown

As of October 7, 2024, Ukrainian farmers have completed the sowing of 3.8 million hectares of winter crops. This information was made public by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, which notes active work in all regions of the country.

According to the ministry, a total of almost 2.9 million hectares of cereals have already been sown, as well as 986.4 thousand hectares of winter rapeseed. This testifies to the serious approach of farmers to the preparation for the next season, especially in the conditions of current challenges.

Among winter cereals, winter wheat is the most sown - 2.6 million hectares, winter barley - 208.7 thousand hectares, and winter rye - 45.9 thousand hectares. It is also important to sow rapeseed, which occupies a significant share in the total area sown.

Analyzing regional indicators, farmers from Ternopil Oblast became the leaders in terms of winter crop sowing volume, where 165.8 thousand hectares (84.2% of the planned) have already been sown. Volyn is in second place with 127.5 thousand hectares (77%), Poltava region is in third place with 182.7 thousand hectares (73.5%), and Cherkasy region is in fourth place with 119.2 thousand hectares (71, 9%).

It is also worth noting that farmers in nine regions of Ukraine have already finished sowing winter rape, which is a positive indicator for the agricultural sector. This testifies to the effective organization of work and the ability to adapt to current conditions.

Currently, farmers are actively working on completing the sowing of winter crops, which is an important stage in preparation for the upcoming harvest. This will allow Ukraine to ensure a stable food balance in the coming year and meet the needs of the domestic market.
