The EU allocates 3 million euros for IAEA support at Ukrainian power stations

The European Commission announced the allocation of 3 million euros to support the monitoring missions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at nuclear power plants in Ukraine. These funds can also be used for missions at power stations, which are critical for the uninterrupted operation of nuclear power plants in the country.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. According to the information, funding is allocated within the framework of the European instrument for international cooperation in the field of nuclear safety.

As European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson noted, Russian attacks on critically important substations that ensure the functioning of Ukrainian nuclear power plants pose serious threats to the country's energy security. "We support the activities of IAEA missions at such substations and allocate 3 million euros to meet their needs," she emphasized.

Kadri Simson also assured that the European Union will continue to support the Ukrainian energy sector, in particular in preparation for the next winter. This confirms the EU's commitment to ensure the stability and security of energy supply in Ukraine.

In turn, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko emphasized the importance of electricity imports for balancing the energy system. He expressed hope for the quick adoption of a decision on increasing the maximum carrying capacity of electricity imports from the countries of the European Union, which will become another link in ensuring Ukraine's energy stability.

Thus, the EU initiative not only emphasizes international support for Ukraine in the context of the energy crisis, but also creates conditions for improving the safety of nuclear facilities, which are critically important for the country's energy infrastructure.
