On October 25, 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Reconstruction, Oleksiy Kuleba, met with the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink. During the meeting, the issue of preparing the country for the new heating season was discussed, which is especially relevant in light of the constant threats that Ukrainian communities face.

According to the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, Kuleba noted that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has already handed over 160 cogeneration plants to Ukraine. This assistance is an important step in preparing Ukrainian cities for winter and improving the heating system.

According to Kuleba, these installations are critically important for ensuring reliable heat supply under the threat of missile attacks. The new equipment will become part of the system of distributed generation, which will allow Ukraine to withstand possible interruptions in heat supply more stably, in particular during difficult winter conditions.

Kuleba also expressed gratitude to the US for its comprehensive support to Ukraine in this difficult period. During the conversation with Brigitte Brink, plans for further cooperation were discussed, which include the restoration of housing infrastructure for internally displaced persons, the development of digital services and the fight against corruption in the country.

At the meeting, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction, outlined the key tasks of the agency that require urgent solutions. Among them are the protection of regional energy facilities, the modernization of transport infrastructure in the front-line territories, as well as the development of solar panels and LED lighting.

These measures are part of a broader strategy of the Ukrainian government to ensure energy security and restore critical infrastructure. Support from the US, particularly through USAID, plays a key role in preparing Ukraine for winter and strengthening the resilience of its energy system.
