In October 2024, traditional cars with gasoline and diesel engines occupied more than 62% of the Ukrainian market of new passenger cars. This is compared to almost 66% in 2023, according to data from the Ukravtoprom association. Changes in the market preferences of motorists have become evident in the last month, particularly in the engine segments.
According to analysts, gasoline cars remain the most popular on the market. In October, their share was 36.1% of the total volume of sales of new cars. At the same time, in October 2023, this indicator reached 45.5%, which indicates a decrease in demand for these models.
Diesel cars are in second place, occupying 26.3% of the new passenger car market. Compared to last year, when diesel cars accounted for 20.4%, there is a positive trend in their sales. This may be due to the increased demand for more economical and ecological solutions.
The hybrid car segment is also showing growth. The share of hybrids in the total volume of sales increased from 18.6% to 20.7%, which indicates the growing interest of consumers in cars that combine the advantages of traditional and electric engines.
As for electric cars, their share in October sales was 16.6%, which is an increase compared to 14.8% for the same period last year. This indicates a gradual increase in the popularity of electric cars among Ukrainian consumers, despite the remnants on the market.
Cars with gas cylinder equipment (HBO) continue to remain on the periphery of the market, occupying less than one percent of the total sales of new cars, as last year.
Among the sales leaders in October 2024 stand out:
- Gasoline cars: Renault Duster;
- Diesel cars: Renault Duster;
- Hybrid models: Toyota RAV-4;
- Electric cars: Honda M-NV;
- Cars with HBO: Hyundai Tucson.
These data indicate that the car market in Ukraine continues to evolve, adapting to new conditions and consumer requests.
