Ukraine sets new records for frozen raspberry exports

Ukraine continues to increase its frozen raspberry exports, actively competing with the world market leaders, including Poland and Serbia. In the first three months of the 2024/25 season, from July to September, more than 28,000 tons of frozen raspberries and blackberries were exported, which became a new record for this period. This was made possible by the growth in production volumes and effective expansion into new markets.

According to EastFruit analysts, frozen raspberry exports from Ukraine increased by 36% compared to last year and by 45% compared to 2022. Such dynamics are impressive, especially considering that against the background of increased export volumes, farmers report a significant decrease in the raspberry harvest in Ukraine in 2024.

Despite the decline in yields, Poland, which is traditionally the main market for Ukrainian frozen raspberries, still holds a leading position. However, its share in total exports is gradually decreasing. Ukraine is actively entering new markets, previously traditionally occupied by Poland, in particular Germany and France. This season, Germany has already exceeded 20% of the market share of frozen raspberries from Ukraine, which is a significant achievement.

Among other important markets for Ukrainian products at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, analysts note the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Austria, Belgium and Italy. In addition, this season, Ukraine began to actively supply its frozen raspberries to the promising markets of the USA and Canada, which opens up new opportunities for expansion.

It should be noted that even Serbia, the world leader in raspberry exports, purchased a large batch of products from Ukraine in September. This indicates high demand for Ukrainian raspberries even among the largest exporters. Poland, in order to maintain its position, is increasingly dependent on re-exports of products, a significant part of which is Ukrainian supplies.

Overall, despite certain challenges, Ukraine continues to successfully develop frozen raspberry exports, expanding the geography of its supplies and strengthening its positions in international markets.
