Ukraine will receive financial assistance in the amount of $4.8 billion under the World Bank program "Support for Public Expenditures to Ensure Sustainable Public Governance in Ukraine" (PEACE). Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this in his post on the X platform. This assistance is an important component of international support for Ukraine in the context of the ongoing war.
The Prime Minister noted that the attraction of such significant funds ensures the financing of key budget programs. This allows Ukraine to function effectively even in extremely difficult conditions, while maintaining financial stability and social guarantees for citizens.
Shmyhal also thanked international partners, in particular the United States of America, for their active participation in this process. He emphasized that this assistance is the result of close cooperation between the Ukrainian government and development partners, who continue to provide vital support to our country.
The PEACE program, under which this financial assistance is provided, is aimed at strengthening public administration and ensuring the stability of key state functions. This includes supporting payments to public sector employees, financing medical and educational services, as well as social programs that are critically important for the population.
Financial support of this scale is evidence of the international community's trust in Ukraine and its efforts to combat the consequences of the war. It also helps maintain Ukraine's positive image as a reliable partner capable of effectively using the resources involved.
This cooperation between the World Bank, the United States, and other partners is a significant step towards ensuring Ukraine's economic sustainability. The Government will continue to work on attracting similar instruments to guarantee the country's stability and development during this difficult period.
