Ukraine will receive financial support in the amount of $454 million from the World Bank for the development and reform of the healthcare system. This step is aimed at increasing the efficiency of medical services and strengthening their accessibility for the population in wartime conditions.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced the receipt of funding. According to him, the funds will be used to support the state health guarantee program, which provides financing for key medical services.
This financial assistance is provided within the framework of the THRIVE project, created to reform the healthcare system of Ukraine. The program is designed not only to improve the quality of healthcare services, but also to adapt them to new challenges caused by the war.
The project is financed with the support of the Government of Japan, the World Bank, as well as grant assistance from the URTF fund. Such international coordination is aimed at ensuring stability and sustainable development of Ukrainian medicine in difficult conditions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these funds are part of the large-scale support of the international community. The THRIVE project fits into the general context of assistance to Ukraine, which covers not only healthcare, but also other strategically important areas: education, transport, energy and agriculture.
"We are grateful to our international partners for their significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian medicine. Despite all the challenges, Ukraine continues to move forward through reforms and modernization, strengthening its positions on the path to European standards," Denys Shmyhal concluded.
This assistance will become an important tool for adapting Ukraine's medical system to modern needs, which is extremely necessary in the context of ongoing military operations.
