Diesel car sales in Ukraine fell by a third: top models of November

In November 2024, more than 5.2 thousand cars with diesel engines were registered in Ukraine, which is a third less than last year. According to Ukravtoprom, this indicates a significant decrease in demand for diesel cars on the Ukrainian market.

According to the information, among these 5.2 thousand cars, 1.5 thousand were new, which is 36% more than the same period last year. At the same time, more than 3.7 thousand units were used cars imported from abroad, which is a 45% decrease compared to November 2023.

Analysts note that diesel cars account for 29% of the total volume of new passenger cars, which is a significant increase compared to 20.5% in November last year. At the same time, the share of diesel cars among imported used cars is 25%, which is 6 percentage points less than in 2023. The average age of such used cars is 10.4 years.

Despite the overall decline in demand for diesel cars, some models remain very popular among Ukrainians. For example, among new diesel cars, the leader in sales is the Renault Duster, which was purchased 420 times. In second place is the Volkswagen Tiguan with 181 cars sold, and the third position is occupied by the Toyota Hilux with 152 units.

The top five most popular new diesel models also include the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (122 units) and Skoda Kodiaq (109 units). These models remain favorites among Ukrainian car enthusiasts due to their reliability and comfort.

The decline in diesel car sales may be the result of several factors, including changing consumer preferences and high prices for diesel fuel. At the same time, demand for new diesel cars continues to grow, indicating a stable interest in such vehicles, particularly in the SUV and urban crossover segment.
